Arnotts Building

Summary
Insite Cladding & Roofing recently completed a £670,000 high-performance roof refurbishment at Glasgow’s iconic Arnotts Building. Appointed by CSQ Consult, the 14-week project involved replacing the aging Stramit roof deck across 17 distinct areas. The comprehensive upgrade featured new D35 TATA Steel metal decking and a premium Bauder roofing system integrated with 140mm insulation, successfully aligning the historic structure with contemporary thermal and environmental standards.
Beyond the primary membrane installation, the scope included custom safety handrails, new ladder access points, decorative cladding for internal parapets and plant rooms, and a state-of-the-art lightning protection system. Executing a project of this scale at the busy junction of Jamaica and Argyle Streets required precision logistics. The team carefully coordinated material management and site access while maintaining 100% watertightness for the fully occupied building during a volatile Scottish winter.
Led by Gordon Watson, JP Wright, Kevin Wright, and Tam Tomson, the project was delivered strictly on schedule. This complex city-center delivery was made possible through seamless collaboration with Top Tier Scaffold and specialist subcontractors AJ Gilmore Flat Roofing and Proroof Scotland, alongside key supply chain partners, ensuring the landmark remains a protected feature of the Glasgow skyline for decades to come.
