Awaab’s Law is Live in Scotland Today: Meeting the New Standard with the Nation's First SCQF Level 6 Qualification

Today (6 October 2026) marks a watershed moment for the Scottish housing sector as the Scottish Government's ammnedments to the Scotland (Housing) Bill, as. result of Awaab’s Law, officially comes into force, introducing strict new statutory timescales for landlords to investigate and remediate damp and mould. As this crucial legislation takes effect, equipping housing teams with the right knowledge and confidence has never been more vital.
That is why it is incredibly encouraging to see West Lothian Council taking their first proactive steps to raise awareness, standards, and competence among both their frontline employees and managers in relation to damp, mould, and water-damaged buildings.
They follow closely on the heels of East Ayrshire Council and East Dunbartonshire Council, who have both provided fantastic feedback and reported significantly improved confidence among their staff after completing our training. We couldn’t be more proud of their progress, but we also know this is only the start of the process and a journey of continuous learning.
We are also excited to welcome the Wheatley Group, who follow on soon with an impressive cohort of attendees! 👏
