SCRA Glasgow Hearing Centre

Summary
Insite Contracts recently delivered a significant two-floor refurbishment at the Scottish Children’s Reporter Administration (SCRA) Hearing Centre on Bell Street, Glasgow. The project required a comprehensive structural and interior transformation to create a modern, flexible, and welcoming environment specifically tailored for children’s hearings.
Led by David Stewart, Stuart Mason, and Scott Milliken, the team executed a complete interior reconfiguration alongside major mechanical, electrical (M&E), and HVAC upgrades. A primary focus was placed on stringent safety compliance, including a full upgrade of fire alarm systems, fire doors, and comprehensive compartmentation works. To cultivate a sensitive, child-centered atmosphere, the fit-out integrated a bespoke reception counter, fully renovated washrooms, and specialized acoustic wall cladding utilizing recycled materials (via Saxen) to ensure essential privacy and calm within the hearing rooms.
Crucially, this extensive modernisation was conducted within a live, fully operational environment. Through meticulous logistical planning and continuous communication, the team successfully handed over the upgraded facility without causing any disruption to the highly sensitive, essential daily services provided by the SCRA.
